How are calories calculated?
Each food entry is based on a standard serving size (typically 100g). When you adjust the serving multiplier, all nutrients scale proportionally. Calorie totals use the Atwater system: protein and carbs provide 4 kcal/g, while fat provides 9 kcal/g.
What macros should I aim for?
General guidelines: Protein 0.7–1g per lb of bodyweight, Carbs 45–65% of total calories, Fat 20–35% of total calories. Adjust based on your goal - cut, bulk, or maintain.
Why track meal macros?
Tracking macros (not just calories) gives you insight into the nutritional quality of your meals. High protein meals preserve muscle. High fiber meals promote satiety. Seeing real numbers helps you make smarter swaps without guessing.
